BTS: Daniel Tan Photography (pt2)

Hi guys! So here's the continuation of my work with Daniel Tan...

After I'm done with Lily's makeup, next on my workstation is another young model Holly (Erin White). She has very nice fair skin. As per instruction of Miss Eughie Teng (Managing Director of Elite Manila), I did very natural and fresh makeup on Holly too.

No makeup yet, but she still looks so pretty!

I failed to get Holly's "after" photo. But I gotta tell you she looks gorgeous! Will definitely post her photoshoot photos once I get the copies.

I also did Robbie Becroft's makeup.

And that wraps up my visit in Elite Studios. I had fun and I met new friends too! Jen Chua and Fashion Stylist, Shane Alebastro.

BTS: Daniel Tan Photography (pt1)

Recently, I got invited by Daniel Tan to be the makeup artist for his photoshoot in Elite Studios. He's a professional photographer and Nikon Ambassador. I was so excited to work with him again. You gotta love his refreshing works, check them here. Thumbs up!

Gloria Cruz (hairstylist) and I arrived in A Venue 45 minutes before the appointment, so we had enough time to have our breakfast first before heading to the studio.

Minutes after we had set up our workstations, a beautiful 6-footer girl walked in and we suddenly felt like Hobbits. Ms. Eughie Teng (Managing Director of Elite Manila) instructed me to do natural and fresh makeup a la "Ponds", our first model just arrived...
Before
Meet Lily, a young Russian model who specializes in catwalk. She told me that she's been modeling for 5 months. She's very shy and apologized that her English is very bad, but I told her not to be sorry and that maybe she can teach me some Russian words instead. She's very sweet and taught me how to say "Hi!" (Privet!) and "How are you?" (Kak dela?) in Russian. She was giggling when I was trying to repeat the pronunciations, I hope it don't sound bad! But I'm glad the Russian beauty loosen up while I was doing her makeup.

I will be posting Lily's photos next...

BTS: Vee-ah Vee

One afternoon during a non-working holiday, I met up with my friend photographer Bryan and his girlfriend Rubie for a photoshoot with another friend, Vee-ah.

It was the first time I met Vee-ah and she's very easy to go along with. She wanted to have 2 looks. She requested the first look to be something "light" and the other one is "emo".

So for the first look, I suggested a yellow smokey eye kind of like the sunset. Those colors are really nice, yes?

During the photoshoot (still waiting for clear copies from Bry)

For the 2nd look, I have this peg of Lady Gaga from her "Judas" music video. It's takes a natural makeup on the eyelids and lots of eyeliners!

Vee-ah liked the idea so I created this look on her with a little alterations on the tail.

Setting up

It's hard to make someone cry or look serious (for the emo shots) when we are all laughing! Thanks to the oranges and mineral water we brought, we got instant iyakin model. Haha! The photoshoot was fun and wacky with some really hilarious moments.

BTS: Kids

This is my very first time to do make up on little kids ages 2 to 11! It is very challenging since children's skins could be very sensitive on the harsh contents of certain cosmetics! My co-MUA and I was very strict in choosing the right cosmetics for our little models. Everything should be hypo-allergenic and disposable to avoid irritation on the little ones' skins. Sponges, eye and lip applicators... these are all disposable!

I got in the Summit Studio a bit earlier than our 8AM call time. Gotta prepare all the things that we need for the kid's hair and make up. Until batch by batch they started coming in our station. The batches of the little girls are pretty easy to manage since some of them do love make up, while some of the boys are really quite aloof. Although after explaining to most of them that we just need to put powder on their noses and foreheads (to avoid shiny faces on photos) they already felt okay with it.

We finished the whole 12 layouts for the URC Flour's 2012 Calendar at around 5:30PM. It was so dead tiring but we had soooo much fun! "Shooting 30 kids in one day is not a joke" @JamirDesign tweeted. But it was just so fun to see the kids enjoy the photo shoot, they are all so cute! Unfortunately, I didn't get to take photos with the kids since I was very very busy to simply get my camera and take pictures with them.

However, here are some behind-the-scene photos from sir Junie Jumig:
